Mandela said, “May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.”
Well fear is an undeniable natural, powerful and primitive human emotion. Fear can be physical or psychological. It doesn’t only originate from surroundings or circumstances but from our very own imagined danger.
An interesting question that is often raised is that why is it important to conquer fear. Fear puts us in vulnerable positions that have the ability to turn into anger issues or anxiety. It gets into our head without us even realizing and sleeps under our pillow. It is essential to overcome fear because it blindfolds us from abundant opportunities that our on their way. It takes away our courage, makes us back out from even participation as we develop a fear of losing.
Fear is just a state of mind and to conquer it is of vital importance in today’s dynamic world. First and foremost, it is necessary to accept your fear. Without acceptance we can’t take steps in the right direction for facing and fighting our fears.
Start by taking baby steps. Do one thing every day that scares you. For example, if you are afraid of sleeping alone, try by practicing the same for just an hour. Then start increasing the hours. You’ll soon be able to get over your fear and go an entire night without being anxious.
Another significant step in facing your fear is to express yourself and talk openly about how you feel when exposed to your fears. If you feel that the people around you don’t offer support for expression of thoughts, change your company and if needed, lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle is the foundation of a healthy mind and thus should never be neglected. Mindfulness and positive mantras are a great help in clearing your mind and to boost your motivation.
Lastly, it’s really important to prioritize yourself and be your own best friend. Would you ever let your best friend miss out on all the amazing experiences in life out of fear?
